State Library of Pennsylvania
The State Library of Pennsylvania serves the information and research needs of all branches of State Government with a collection emphasis on materials for, by and about Pennsylvania. As a statewide resource center and law library, the State Library provides residents with Pennsylvania State and U.S. Government Documents, print materials, digitized collections, online reference services and automated resources.
The State Library of Pennsylvania fostered the development and expansion of a statewide database of library catalogs, accessible from a single website on the Internet for all residents of Pennsylvania.
The POWER Library is the online portal to all that Pennsylvania libraries offer. This is the place to find trustworthy answers to questions about healthcare, consumer purchases, personal finances, and much more. Enjoy 24/7 access to newspapers, magazines, journals, historical documents and photos, online databases, eBooks and a live chat service.

Hours of Operation:
The Office of Commonwealth Libraries provides services Monday through Friday, 9 AM–5 PM (except holidays).
The State Library of Pennsylvania Main Reading Room will be open (except holidays or in the case of a Commonwealth issued delay or closing) as follows:
Tuesday-Thursday: 10 AM–6 PM

The State Library of Pennsylvania is located within the Forum Building in Harrisburg. Spaces include the Main Reading Room, Law Library, Rare Collections, STEMlab, Genealogy Room, and Digitization Department.

Eligibility requirements and/or fees
Free to Pa. residents with a Pennsylvania library card as far as borrowing. Free to anyone to come in, phone or e-mail reference service.
Services provided
Reference assistance via fax, e-mail, phone or walk-in.
Staff provide virtual services and programming via Chat with a Librarian. The Chat with a Librarian service is a part of POWER Library
