Separation of Married Couples

Information from the Erie County Bar Association on the legal issues involved when married people begin to live separately. It is not unusual for a couple to physically separate during marital difficulties. However, there is no such thing as a legal separation in Pennsylvania. This means that the parties do not have to go to Court for an order authorizing or evidencing their desire to live in separate places. (May 2023)
