Services provided

Bosler Memorial Library is the home of the Cumberland County Law Library.

This collection contains legal publications for legal research as well as a Layman's Law Library for the everyday user. The Cumberland County Law Library is located on the second floor in the Information Services Department.

The resources of the Law Library include both sources of Pennsylvania law, such as Purdon's Pennsylvania Statutes Annotated, and guides to its substance and practice, such as Standard Pennsylvania Practice 2d. Also available are works on specific areas of law such as evidence, trial practice, and workers' compensation. Items in the Law Library Collection are for reference only and cannot be checked out.

The Law Library is here for both the legal community and the average citizen. In addition to the many volumes of State, County, and Local legal materials, the library has the following services available right now:

  • Bosler's "Layman's Law" Library
    This is a special collection of books on legal topics written in plain, easy-to-understand language. This is the place to start if you want general information and direction on how to pursue a legal matter. A few of the many topics included are Legal Terminology, Workplace Rights, Living Wills, Bankruptcy, Family Law, Landlord/Tenant Law, Estate Planning, Copyright Law, Immigration, and laws governing Non-Profit Organizations. Books in the Layman's Law Collection may be checked out by patrons. Librarians can also assist patrons in finding additional legal resources at the state and local levels.
  • WestLawNext
    WestLawNext is a comprehensive legal research tool available online from any library internet computer. Westlaw Next provides access to information resources including more than 40,000 databases of case law, state and federal statutes, administrative codes, newspaper and magazine articles, public records, law journals, law reviews, treatises, legal forms and other information resources.
