Stateside Legal is a national resource for members of the military, veterans, their families and advocates. It goal is to help you access benefits, find free legal help, and better understand your legal issues. This site indexes the best legal information available in one easy-to-use website that includes interactive forms, videos, and legal analysis.
Veterans Legal Help Navigator
This online tool from Stateside Legal helps veterans' caseworkers and advocates across the country find the right fit legal help for veterans. The Navigator will ask a series of questions about the veteran's income, household size, location and legal issue. Using this information, it will provide the right fit legal help for the veteran. The Navigator will also suggest resources to learn about the veteran’s legal issue and self-help materials for the veteran.
Interactive Forms from Stateside Legal
Stateside Legal, a website providing legal help for military members, veterans and their families, has partnered with several organizations to bring free interactive legal forms to individuals with military connections. The interactive forms are available free of charge to all persons. The system is easy to use and provides several sample forms and letters in a number of legal areas.

Online applications for various veterans benefits were previously available through the VONAPP (Veterans On Line Applications) website. That website has been retired and is no longer available, but links to online applications are still available here.

Information from the American Bar Association Military and Veterans Legal Center about Federal ABA Free Legal Answers, a website where you can submit your questions about civil legal issues pertaining to veterans, including VA benefits, discharge upgrades, and similar veterans’ legal issues, and receive answers from pro bono lawyers.

Benefits.gov is the official benefits website of the U.S. government whose mission is to increase citizen access to benefit information, while reducing the expense and difficulty of interacting with the government. It is a free, online confidential tool that helps you find government benefits you may be eligible to receive.
Federal Court Finder
Find a federal court location by location or court name, including appellate, district, bankruptcy, probation and pretrial office, or federal defender organization. Each District Court has its own local forms which are generally available on the Court website.
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR)
ESGR, a Department of Defense agency, was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee's military commitment.The program provides information, counseling, and informal mediation of issues relating to compliance with the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).

Information on the Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) program which assists Veterans with service-connected disabilities to prepare for, find, and keep suitable jobs. Services are available to help with job training, employment accommodations, resume development, and job seeking skills coaching. Other services may be provided to assist Veterans in starting their own businesses or independent living services for those who are severely disabled and unable to work in traditional employment.

This Veterans Employment Website from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management is a source for Federal employment information for Veterans, transitioning service members, their families, Federal HR professionals and hiring managers, and is a critical component of the Federal Government’s strategy for the recruitment and employment of Veterans.
Veterans' Preference Advisor
The Veterans' Preference Advisor from the United States Department of Labor was developed by the Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS) to allow veterans to examine the preferences for which they might be entitled with regard to Federal jobs. In addition, VETS allows Veterans' Preference claimants to submit a claim electronically. VETS staff members are available to provide technical assistance prior to filing an official claim.
Transition Assistance Program

Child Support and Alimony - How to Start Child Support or Alimony Payments
Federal law authorizes the pay of active, reserve, and retired members of the military and the pay of civilian employees of the Federal government to be garnished (or attached) for the payment of child and/or spousal support. Disability Benefits for Wounded Warriors - Social Security Administration
Military service members can receive expedited processing of disability claims from Social Security. Benefits available through us are different from those available through the Department of Veterans Affairs and require a separate application. The expedited process is used for military service members whose disability occurred while on active military duty on or after October 1, 2001, regardless of where the disability occurs. (2024)

Information from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service on the Uniformed Services Former Spouses' Protection Act which recognizes the right of state courts to distribute military retired pay to a spouse or former spouse and provides a method of enforcing these orders through the Department of Defense. The Act also provides a method of enforcing current child support and/or arrears and current alimony awarded in the court order.
