There are current reports of phishing emails to EPPICard holders requesting them to "renew" their accounts or to login to their accounts, using a link in the email, to check for changed information. Phishing is a type of scam designed to steal your personal information.

In August, 2004, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania implemented the new EPPICard program to administer child support payments. Custodial parents can now access their payments online using a MasterCard ® debit card.

Similarly, in October 2007, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry implemented their new Debit Card program. L&I and SWIF claimants can also now access their payments online using a MasterCard ® debit card.

The actual EPPICard website is currently posting a pop-up warning on their site stating that they will never request your information such as social security number, card number or PIN through email and urging users to not respond to email requests for this information.

Being informed is your best defense. See the Protect Yourself link on the www.eppicard.com site for ways of avoiding identity theft. If you believe your card account has been compromised, you should call the number on the back of the card as soon as possible.
