ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

MidPenn's mission is to provide high-quality representation to low-income people with a broad range of legal problems, while working with clients to develop strategies to promote social justice. The organization's goals are to increase access to the justice system for low-income people; to foster the independence and dignity of our clients; and to address both the symptoms and the root causes of poverty.

This office provides free legal representation to eligible clients in Adams County.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT SERVICE:
 
Counties served by this office:  Adams
Languages spoken  Spanish
Interpreters can be provided: MidPenn provides interpreters for all clients in all service offices whenever necessary.
Wheelchair accessible? Y
Other accomodations: TTY service and interpreters will be utilized where necessary to serve hearing-impaired clients.
Income Guidelines: 
  Your family's income should be at or below 125.0% of the poverty level.

  MidPenn uses an asset test in determining financial eligibility. Assets reviewed include: property, vehicles, cash, certificates of deposit, bank accounts, stocks and bonds MidPenn has adopted the assets test used in United States Bankruptcy Court as approved by its Board of Directors.
 
Income Requirements do not apply to victims of domestic violence and may be waived in other special circumstances. In recognition of the special emphasis provided by the Legal Services Corporation to persons who have physical or mental impairments, the elderly and persons who are in public institutions, and in recognition of the increased medical and transportation costs incurred by such persons, MidPenn elects to exempt such persons from the administration of its assets tests
 
Other eligibility requirements:
  This program does not serve prisoners
 
Clients are responsible for any court fees that cannot be waived, i.e, bankruptcy filing fees.
